History

Software engineer and former Lead Architect who believes good engineering should take work away, not add it: fixing problems at the source so they stop coming back, whether by automating years of repetitive work or pushing fixes upstream so other teams stop hitting the same wall.

10+ years of experience, 4 of them in technical leadership, and 6 years of production Rust across AWS, MongoDB, and startups. Currently at MongoDB, working on Atlas Local (an all-Rust library, CLI, and MCP integration), the Atlas CLI and the remote MCP server. Before that, built the AWS Lambda deployment tooling that spans every region and availability zone. Before that, led a company-wide rewrite to event-sourced Rust microservices as the company's lead architect, setting direction across every team with the CEO and CTO.

Senior Software Engineer @ MongoDB

Dublin, Ireland

Working on Atlas Local, the Atlas CLI and the MongoDB MCP server. Led Atlas Local from design through delivery, shipped as a Rust library with Node and Python bindings, a standalone CLI and an Atlas CLI plugin. DRI for roughly a third of the projects behind the remote MCP server, including the configuration API and UI that every MCP integration builds on. Built the generator that gives the Atlas CLI a command for every Admin API endpoint, cutting endpoint work from 3–4 weeks to a five-minute review. Founded and still run a weekly Learn Rust programme.

Software Development Engineer @ Amazon Web Services

Designed and built the Rust tool that deploys every AWS Lambda runtime to every region and availability zone, turning each 11-hour manual deploy into a 1m50s automated run with zero rollbacks. Owned the .NET runtime, taking its releases from none in two years to one or two a month.

Lead Software Architect @ Proceedix

Gent, Belgium

Led the company-wide move from a C# monolith to event-sourced microservices in Rust and .NET Core: throughput from 15 to 80,000 requests a second, latency from 1.5s to under 5ms, and full traceability of every system action, which regulated customers require. Merged three mobile codebases into one Flutter application, set technical direction with the CEO and CTO across every team, and guided 10–20 engineers. Symphony Industrial AI acquired the company in December 2021.
