WHAT IT IS

The Atlas CLI is how teams script and automate MongoDB Atlas: provisioning clusters, managing access, wiring CI, and reaching every endpoint the Atlas Admin API exposes.

It ships through Homebrew, apt, yum, Chocolatey and Docker. A public plugin framework lets other teams extend it without touching its core, and its commands are generated from the Admin API's OpenAPI spec rather than written by hand.

WHAT I DID
Code generation · plugin framework
  • Led design and delivery of an open-source generator in Go and OpenAPI that produces a command for every Atlas Admin API endpoint, saving 2–3 engineer-years of manual implementation and cutting endpoint work from 3–4 weeks to a five-minute PR review.
  • Founded a cross-team automation working group spanning the Atlas Kubernetes Operator, APIx Integrations and Terraform teams, so one generator serves all of them instead of three near-copies.
  • Designed the Atlas CLI Plugins framework and mentored the project lead through every stage of shipping it: public, extensible, adopted internally and announced on MongoDB's engineering blog.
  • Built the Java backend features for the Atlas Admin API behind the public launch of the new "Preview" stability level, letting MongoDB iterate faster while keeping production guarantees for every Atlas customer.
